Multipliers for employment creation : the IT sector in Kenya Project uri icon

description

  • Goal: The project forms part of a broader research program on IT enterprises in developing countries and similar studies were conducted in South Africa and Bangladesh. IT enterprises are often a source of informal employment in developing countries. However, formal employment often provides greater stability and potentially multipliers for employment creation. Using the case study of Kenya, the project examines how the institutional environment and social networks impact enterprise growth with broader applicability to the developing country context. The project involves scholars from the LSE Innovation Co-creation Lab, Strathmore Business School (Strathmore Institute for Public Policy and Governance)and the Rotterdam School of Management.
