  • Mary is passionate about understanding how people make sense of their lives, conduct their economic affairs and why they manage their life cycle risks the way they do. ​ With over 8 years of field research experience, Mary helps policy makers and organizations better understand the daily person and improve their strategies to positively impact their communities. Mary has a cumulative 15 years professional experience, 12 of which have been in academia - field research as well as lecturing. Her research focuses on understanding social networks enabling informal financing and insurance. ​ She has also consulted for PricewaterhouseCoopers Kenya, Kericho County Government, Slum Dwellers International (SDI) - Kenya, Grameen Foundation and Strathmore University Management. Mary holds a BSc in Actuarial Science from the University of Nairobi and an MSc in Mathematical Finance from Manchester Business School. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Economic Anthropology
